Differences of U.S. and Korea Advertising

Advertising is very useful in our ordinary life. Actually, they are affected by advertising in the process of buying something. But, each country has a different style in advertising. Also, advertising is close with culture. U.S. and Korea have three differences in advertising. Materials and ways of advertising, different ways of presenting advertising, and focus of advertising are different. We will talk about these three differences of Korea and U.S. advertising.

First, the material and way of advertising are different. For example, Korean advertising companies use beautiful and handsome models in their advertising because most Koreans want to buy products which beautiful and handsome models are advertised. It is more helpful to a company than U.S. companies’ concentration on quality of their products. For instance, Koreans cannot compare with other companies’ products. If some company compare with others’ products, they might have law problems. But in the U.S. they can do that. Also, Koreans do not prefer to use babies or animals in advertising because they think babies and animals give trust less than other cases. Substance and method of advertisement are different.

Secondly, ways of presenting advertising are different. For example, many Koreans use public transportation. So, advertising companies aim at people using public transportation, so they advertise in the subway, bus, and taxi. But, it is uncommon in U.S. In particular, Korean IT industry has been developed for several years. So, Koreans can use Internet in their cell phone. Many advertisements are sent to cell phone. Sometimes, they give free food tickets, free coffee tickets, and free transportation tickets. And, they appeal their goods. It is more helpful to businessman, salary man, and people who do not have free time. Most Koreans have cell phones, so they can see advertising anywhere. Various ways of doing advertising is useful.

Finally, the focuses of advertising are different. Korean advertisements focus on women because women buy things which are advertised with advertising. More than 80% of Korean women decide to buy for their families. And they are more attracted than men. But, U.S. advertising targets on children, because they have to spend lots of money from their parents. In particular, Korean advertisements are made for making money, so they focus on making money and much selling. But, U.S. advertising wants to be recognized, so they prefer to make fun and impress advertising. Focal points of advertisement are different.

In conclusion, advertisements are helpful when we find we need things and when new products appear. And,advertisements have to give true information and help people. But, advertisements are different between Korea and the U.S. because we each have pursued different things each other, and we have different lifestyles. Although goals of advertising are the same in the world, there are many differences in advertisements.
